Acoustic Patches

Patch Name
Requirements
Description
Warm Concert Grand 1.0 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (719 k)
SR-JV80-09 (Session) A warm acoustic piano derived from the St. Concert patch on the Session expansion board. I fixed the velocity-switching flaws in the Session patch making the transition from piano and forte samples much more natural and smooth, without loosing polyphony due to velocity cross-fading.
Bright Concert Grand 1.0 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (839 k)
SR-JV80-09 (Session) A bright acoustic piano derived from the St. Concert patch on the Session expansion board. I fixed the velocity-switching flaws in the Session patch making the transition from piano and forte samples much more natural and smooth, without loosing polyphony due to velocity cross-fading.

Special Effects Patches

Patch Name
Requirements
Description
Star Saber 1.0 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (900 k)
none This is a fun little patch that synthesizes the sound of a Light Saber as heard in George Lucas's original Star Wars motion picture.
Forest Fire 1.0 (.syx file version)
Forest Fire 1.0 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (356 k)
none This patch resembles the sound of a large fire blazing as I imagine a forest fire may sound. The intensity of the blaze can be slightly increased via modulation. The crackling sound can also be increased with key position.
Ambulance 1.0 (.syx file version)
Ambulance 1.0 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (364 k)
none This special effects patch simulates an ambulance siren common in the US. Though it is not perfect, it is fairly good and may even be passable. There are a number of controls for it including rate of oscillation (via Sys-Ctrl-1) and distance from listener (via Modulation).
Glass Break 1.0 (.syx file version)
Glass Break 1.0 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (56 k)
none A patch which simulates the sound of a small, thin glass breaking. Though it is far from perfect, it gives the sense of glass breaking.
Real Copter 1.1 (.syx file version)
Real Copter 1.1 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (516 k)
none This patch is meant to replace the horribly programmed "Helicopter" GM (bank D on the JV-2080) patch. This one sounds quite a bit better and still only uses 2 Tones. Version 1.1 even sounds better than 1.0 due to a change in helicopter engine waveform and the addition of FXM and more controls.
Heart Beat 1.0 (.syx file version)
Heart Beat 1.0 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (388 k)
none A patch which simulates a human heart beat (with fair realism) and features adjustable beating frequency via Pitch Bend as well as keyboard note number (the higher you play on the keyboard, the faster the heart beat).
Rain Storm 1.2 (.syx file version)
Rain Storm 1.2 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (532 k)
none Thunder clap and rumble that leads to rain. Rain level is controllable via Aftertouch. High key-on velocities render a "clap" of thunder instead of just a rumble.
Rain w/Wind 1.2 (.syx file version)
Rain w/Wind 1.2 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (628 k)
none Thunder clap and rumble with gusty wind in the background that leads to rain as wind dies to a quieter gust. Wind speed is controllable via Modulation and rain level is controllable via Aftertouch. High key-on velocities render a "clap" of thunder instead of just a rumble.
Crazy Nut!! 1.0 (.syx file version)
Crazy Nut!! 1.0 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (264 k)
none Fun patch which mimics cars passing at high speed. High key-on velocities make the car "honk" as it passes. Horn level is reduced as Modulation level increases (i.e. use the Mod lever to turn off the horns as the car passes, good for "pounding" on the horn).
Dial Tone 1.1 (.syx file version)
Dial Tone 1.1 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (80 k)
none Simple little patch that simulates (fairly accurately) a U.S. phone dial tone sound.

World/Ethnic Patches

Patch Name
Requirements
Description
StealCountry 1.05 (.syx file version)
StealCountry 1.05 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (132 k)
none Steel guitar sound like that heard in Country music. Aftertouch increases pitch by +1 semi-tone. Useful if you have a Polyphonic Aftertouch capable controller keyboard which you can use to bend the pitch of each individual note.
Fiddle 1.0 (.syx file version)
Fiddle 1.0 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (540 k)
Experience I
(SR-JV80-99)
This patch is loosely based on the GM bank (D on the JV-2080) Fiddle patch with some minor modifications as well as changing the waveform to the violin sample on the Experience I expansion board.

Digital Pad/Synth Patches

Patch Name
Requirements
Description
Tri-Saw TAP 1.0 (.syx file version)
Tri-Saw TAP 1.0 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (1.4 MB)
none My first "bright" synth patch. This patch would be most appropriate for the techno and trance genre of music. Fully controllable with lots of nuances to play with, this patch will keep you occupied for hours.
Pad Warmth 1.0 (.syx file version)
Pad Warmth 1.0 (MIDI file version)
MP3 example (412 k)
none My attempt at creating a nice tonal "pad" sound, this patch produces a nice warm sound but still retains soothing overtones.
